Course Reserves

Access music and dance course reserves here.
 
Music Library staff handle course reserve requests for music and dance classes.  We can place tangible items on reserve, as well as processing files for electronic reserve, including audio files.  Please visit the CUL course reserves web page or contact a Music Library staff member at musicref@cornell.edu for assistance.

Borrow Direct and Interlibrary Loan

Requests:  Use Borrow Direct or Interlibrary Loan to request materials not held at Cornell; materials held at the Library Annex can be sent to the Cornell Library of your choice or will be scanned and sent to you electronically.

Purchase Requests

You may suggest materials for purchase online.

Or, you may contact us at musicref@cornell.edu. To help expedite your request, please enter as complete a citation as possible (title, author, year, publisher, etc). You will be contacted by a librarian regarding your request.

Research Assistance

Music Library staff are available to offer assistance throughout your research process.  Visit the Music Reference desk or send an e-mail to musicref@cornell.edu to set up an appointment.

Billing/Account Questions

If you have questions about music materials on your account or questions about billings, please contact the Music Library reference desk staff at musicref@cornell.edu.

Reproductions

To request reproductions of Music Library materials, please submit your request online.  All requests are reviewed by a Music Library staff member and are subject to Copyright and Fair Use.

Laptops

The Music Library provides three laptop computers for use in the library.  Ask about availability at the Music Library circulation desk. Laptops are available on a first-come/first-served basis and have a 3-hour loan period.  Renewals are permitted.

Public Workstations

Public workstations in the music library provide full productivity software (Microsoft Office, etc.) and internet access.  In addition, the 15 workstations in the listening/viewing area provide networked access to Sibelius music notation software.

Listening and Viewing

The Music Library maintains a reference collection of audio-visual materials, housed in closed stacks.  Circulation staff will page materials for you and you may borrow headphones at the circulation desk to use in the listening/viewing area.  The area includes playback equipment for CDs, LPs, audio cassettes, DVDs, and VHS tapes.

Group Study

The Music Library has a small room available on a first-come/first-served basis.  The room can accommodate 6-8 people.  Please stop by or call (255-4011) the reference desk to inquire about availability.

Lockers

The Music Library has several day-use lockers.  You will need a quarter to remove the key; your quarter will be returned when you return the key.  The lockers may not be used for overnight or long-term storage.
 
Locking cabinets for longer-term storage also are available, although Music Department graduate students without office space receive priority for using the cabinets.  Ask about availability at the reference desk.

Study Carrels

The Music Library has a number of study carrels located throughout the facility.  The carrels are available on a first-come/first-served basis and may not be reserved.
